No Coast Classic: Round 2

Posted in Uncategorized, We Party Pretty Hard by fkngmtns on May 27, 2010

The Denver No Coast Classic is a distinct blend of fixed gear bro-bras and classy kids with nice hair cuts. An indoor virtual time trial race set to the tunes of Denver’s best DJs, this is a party hybrid that will blow your pants off. The infamous local bike gang “The Rim Jobs” will be in attendance, and word on the street has it that a few cruiser clubs might stop by.  It might get ugly.

Race is open to all riders and bikes are provided. Riders can race as many times as they want, with prizes for the best times.

Dance party for all those willing to cut loose.

Come watch, race, and get down.

What We Did: No-Coast Classic Round One

Posted in Social Life, Videos, We Party Pretty Hard by fkngmtns on April 6, 2010

Sorry if you missed it, but round one of the Denver No-Coast Classic was a damn good time.  Roller races and really loud music coupled with a bunch of PBR and good-lookin’ people made this an extraordinary event. Good thing we are going to throw round two in a few weeks. Check back for more details.

Gettin’ Jazzed Up

Posted in We Party Pretty Hard by fkngmtns on March 27, 2010

In the world of jazz, we are living in a post-apocalyptic wasteland. Kenny G destroyed what was left of good jazz with his sleazy perm and horrific sax playing, and  ‘smooth jazz’ became all the rage for middle aged white people. But there has emerged a new breed of musicians and players set on breathing life back into the forgotten corpse of good jazz.

Every Sunday night at the Lost Lake Lounge on East Colfax, you will find jazz music being played the way it’s suppose to be played: fashionable, sexy, and slightly inebriated. The Old Souls dish out oldies that you’ve never hear on the public radio, and DJs spin the sickest Ethiopian jazz you’ve ever heard.

Smoke some grass, order a glass of Hennessy, and get in on the good stuff.

Denver No-Coast Classic

The Tunes

Kingdom of Magic:

Playing mind-ripping stoner jams for the typical substance abuser, this prolific power trio carries the torch for Denver’s heavy music legion. Dudes, booze, and attitudes.

The Lonesome Death of Jordy Verrill:

With a lineup consisting of members from such canonized groups as Blackout Pact, Taun Taun, and Mustangs & Madras, this punk rock outfit is destined for local fame and fortune.

Black Acid Devil:

Hailing from the dark hallows of Boulder, Black Acid Devil is a pleasant anomaly among the often ostracized foothills community. Playing heavy psychedelic-Doom riffs and sludgy grooves, this band sets the perfect mood for getting fucked-up on cheap beer.

The Race

The first round of a monthly series, the Denver No-Coast Classic is an indoor roller race for urban cyclists.  Two track bikes are set up on stationary rollers and connected to a video projection that monitors each racer’s speed and distance. The tournament operates as a “free-for-all” style, allowing any two racers to challenge each other in virtual head-to-head time trials. The fastest riders will move on to the championship race.  Bicycles will be provided, and entry is free.  The winners will receive praise and applause from the crowd and some kick-ass prizes.

Make sure to arrive at the event before 9 pm to race.
