fm magazine is cutting jeans into shorts

Big FUCKING Announcement

Posted in How Not to Run a Magazine by fkngmtns on September 13, 2008

The newest issue of FM Magazine–which was set to debut this weekend at Monolith–has, for reasons completely beyond us, has been deemed by our now-former printer Frederic Printing to be too offensive to publish. No kidding. The president of the company found something so inappropriate that he literally stopped the presses mere hours before going to print.

So what exactly was it that was so fucking abhorrent? We have no idea. They didn’t tell us.

Maybe it was our excessive swearing or our dis of both political parties or perhaps it was the snapshot of a loving lesbian couple in this issue’s photo spread… Who knows? What we do know is that at our core we are an arts magazine whose ideals are rooted in good design and good content. We are not pornographic or bigoted. We do not condone violence or discrimination. We are, inherently and fiercely, pro-community. But, for some apparently, the way that we choose to express ourselves is, well, not suited for mass consumption.

Now, we respect the printer’s decision to run their business however they please. We just wish that they would have told us beforehand that they were prude assholes before giving us a sales pitch.

What this means: We’ll have to shop around (again) for a new printer. This means no new magazine for, at least, another week. Sorry, kids. Check back here for updates.

And if you’re feeling fiesty, send Chris Greene (the president of Frederic) an email telling him what you think: chrisg@fredericprinting.com
