I’m not entirely sure how fixed-gear bikes got to be so goddamn trendy, but I’d bet that it has something to do with the kids that ride them. Despite the snooty attitudes and aggressive behavior, the fixie scene in Denver is growing. Aiding in this growth is Track Shack, a locally-run bike shop specializing in track bikes, fixies, and bad hair cuts. The shop recently celebrated its one-year anniversary and opened up its parking lot to a crowd of eager young riders who competed in various events throughout the day. There was also a ton of beer, a few scraped legs, and a fight. Good times.
